Barista

An exciting opportunity is available for two experienced Baristas to join a busy, high-volume café in the Otago region of New Zealand. These are permanent full-time positions offering a minimum of 30 guaranteed hours per week and competitive pay of NZD $26.00–$30.00 per hour, depending on experience.

You will be responsible for preparing high-quality espresso coffee and beverages while delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Working as part of a supportive and professional team, you will help create an outstanding café experience for customers while maintaining high standards of quality, cleanliness, and efficiency.

• Prepare and serve high-quality espresso coffee and a range of hot beverages
• Operate efficiently in a fast-paced café environment during busy service periods
• Maintain consistency, speed, and quality in beverage preparation
• Provide friendly, professional, and efficient customer service
• Take customer orders and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of coffee stations, equipment, and service areas
• Follow food safety, hygiene, cleaning, and workplace health and safety procedures
• Support front-of-house operations, including food service, table clearing, and general café duties
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations
• Maintain high standards of presentation and customer experience

• Previous experience as a Barista in a busy café, restaurant, or hospitality environment
• Strong espresso coffee-making skills
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team
• Good personal presentation and attention to detail
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene, and cleaning standards
• Ability to work flexible rostered shifts, including weekends
• Previous experience in a high-volume café environment is highly regarded
