The Opportunity

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Deep Fry Chef / Chef de Partie to join a busy Asian-style restaurant kitchen. This role is ideal for an experienced chef or an enthusiastic individual looking to start or continue a commercial cookery apprenticeship.

You will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to prepare high-quality meals while maintaining efficient service, food safety, and kitchen standards. Experience in a Chinese or Asian kitchen is an advantage but is not essential, as training will be provided to the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook deep-fried dishes, entrée items, and other hot food during service
  • Assist with food preparation including chopping vegetables, preparing meats, portioning ingredients, marinating, and battering
  • Support the kitchen team by retrieving ingredients and assisting chefs during service
  • Operate deep-frying equipment safely and efficiently
  • Maintain consistent food quality, taste, and presentation
  • Monitor fryer oil quality and follow correct oil maintenance procedures
  • Keep the work area clean, organised, and fully stocked throughout service
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and kitchen cleaning procedures
  • Assist with general kitchen cleaning and preparation duties as required
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment
  • Follow instructions from the Head Chef and senior kitchen staff

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Previous kitchen or deep-fry cooking experience is preferred but not essential
  • Experience in a Chinese or Asian kitchen is an advantage
  • Willingness to undertake or continue a commercial cookery apprenticeship is welcomed
  • Ability to work efficiently during busy service periods
  • Good attention to detail and food presentation
  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking with a positive attitude
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to work well as part of a kitchen team
  • Cantonese language skills are preferred but not essential
  • Availability to work Tuesday to Sunday, with split shifts as required
