The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated Sous Chef or experienced Chef de Partie to join a vibrant and growing food-focused venue in South Australia.

This role is ideal for a chef looking to take the next step in their career and work closely with an experienced Head Chef. The venue combines the best of a deli, café and sandwich shop, creating a relaxed but creative kitchen environment where quality, consistency and fresh ideas are valued.

With predominantly morning and lunch shifts, this position offers an excellent work-life balance, with most shifts finishing around mid-afternoon.

The successful candidate will be confident working independently, maintaining high standards and taking ownership of the kitchen during service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Head Chef to maintain smooth daily kitchen operations
  • Independently manage kitchen operations during allocated shifts
  • Prepare and cook food consistently according to established recipes and standards
  • Maintain excellent food quality, presentation and portion control
  • Follow recipes accurately and ensure consistency across all dishes
  • Take responsibility for allocated sections and maintain high kitchen standards
  • Assist with menu preparation and contribute creative ideas where appropriate
  • Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering and stock control
  • Ensure preparation is completed efficiently for daily service
  • Work calmly and efficiently during busy service periods
  • Support and communicate effectively with other kitchen team members
  • Maintain a clean, organised and well-presented kitchen
  • Assist the Head Chef with maintaining operational and quality standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant commercial kitchen experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie or similar role
  • Experience in a café, bistro, deli, restaurant or fine-dining environment is welcome
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of recipes, food preparation and consistency
  • Ability to maintain quality standards during busy service periods
  • Reliable, organised and punctual approach to work
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to take ownership of responsibilities and allocated sections
  • Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a creative kitchen environment
  • Relevant culinary qualifications are advantageous
  • Willingness to commit to a full-time position
