The Opportunity

An opportunity is available for an experienced Curry Chef to join a busy, family-owned Indian restaurant in Western Australia (WA).

This role involves working closely with the kitchen owners and team to deliver high-quality Indian cuisine in a fast-paced environment. You will play a key role in maintaining consistency across recipes, improving kitchen systems, supporting catering operations, and ensuring strong food quality standards across dine-in, takeaway, and event services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of Indian curries, gravies, and related dishes to consistent standards
  • Support multiple kitchen sections and assist across the full menu as required
  • Lead preparation for daily service as well as catering and banquet orders
  • Ensure portion control, food quality, presentation, and timing consistency
  • Assist with menu costing and maintaining food cost targets
  • Develop and maintain clear recipes and kitchen documentation for consistency
  • Manage ordering, stock control, and inventory management
  • Minimise food waste and maintain cost efficiency
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
  • Contribute ideas for new dishes, specials, and menu improvements
  • Support smooth kitchen operations in a busy team environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as an Indian Chef or Curry Chef in a busy kitchen
  • Strong knowledge of Indian spices, curries, and gravies
  • Experience in high-volume service including takeaway and catering
  • Understanding of portion control, recipe standardisation, and food costing
  • Ability to work across multiple kitchen sections
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Formal cookery qualification (Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery) highly regarded
  • Food Safety Supervisor certification is an advantage
  • Experience with catering, banquets, or Indian sweets is highly desirable
