The Opportunity

We are seeking experienced Chef de Partie professionals to join a busy and diverse hotel kitchen operation in Queensland. This opportunity is suited to chefs who can confidently manage their own section, maintain consistent food quality and perform effectively across restaurant service, conferences, events and functions.

Two positions are available, with a genuine pathway for a high-performing Chef de Partie to progress into a Junior Sous Chef role. Progression is based on demonstrated skills, leadership, reliability and performance.

Sponsorship available for eligible candidates who demonstrate the required experience, capability and commitment, subject to applicable requirements and employer approval.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage an allocated kitchen section
  • Complete preparation, mise en place and service requirements
  • Prepare and cook menu items to consistent quality standards
  • Maintain food presentation, portion control and quality
  • Support restaurant, conference, event and function services
  • Assist during high-volume and peak service periods
  • Work closely with senior chefs and the wider kitchen team
  • Support and guide junior kitchen team members
  • Maintain appropriate stock rotation and minimise food wastage
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment
  • Support smooth kitchen operations across different service periods
  • Take on increased responsibilities as capability and performance develop

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or equivalent commercial kitchen experience
  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage a kitchen section
  • Strong knowledge of commercial food preparation and cooking techniques
  • Understanding of food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements
  • Ability to maintain quality and consistency during busy services
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Reliable, organised and committed to professional kitchen standards
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
  • Leadership experience is highly regarded but not essential
  • Working rights in Australia for eligible applicants
  • Willingness and capability to progress into a Junior Sous Chef position where suitable
