The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Head Chef to lead a high-performing kitchen team in a premium hospitality venue in Queensland. The role focuses on creating modern Japanese fusion cuisine while maintaining exceptional standards across food quality, presentation, kitchen operations and team performance.

The successful candidate will take ownership of menu development, kitchen leadership, food safety, stock control and supplier coordination while helping shape a distinctive dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the kitchen team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Develop and execute creative seasonal menus with a focus on Japanese fusion cuisine
  • Maintain consistent food quality, flavour, presentation and portion standards
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations and ensure efficient service
  • Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and workplace health standards
  • Manage kitchen budgets, food costs, stock levels and ordering
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers
  • Monitor kitchen performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Train, mentor and develop kitchen staff
  • Maintain a positive, professional and collaborative kitchen culture
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented to the required standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef in a modern, high-end kitchen
  • Strong experience in professional commercial kitchens
  • Japanese or Asian fusion cuisine experience is highly desirable
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities
  • Creative approach to menu development and food presentation
  • Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
  • Ability to manage a high-volume kitchen while maintaining quality and consistency
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Commitment to maintaining a positive and professional workplace environment
