Chefs and Cooks

An established hospitality business in Northland, New Zealand is seeking an experienced Chef with strong skills in Indian and intercontinental cuisine. The role involves preparing high-quality food, supporting menu development, managing kitchen preparation and maintaining consistent food, hygiene and service standards.

• Plan and organise daily kitchen preparation and cooking
• Prepare and cook Indian, intercontinental and café-style dishes
• Assist with menu planning, specials and food-cost control
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes and presentation
• Maintain consistent recipes, flavours and presentation standards
• Order food supplies and monitor stock levels
• Coordinate food preparation and service with kitchen team members
• Use appropriate cooking techniques and support other kitchen staff when required
• Maintain food safety, hygiene and allergen-management standards
• Keep the kitchen clean, safe and organised
• Follow workplace health and safety requirements
• Support efficient kitchen operations during busy service periods

• Relevant professional Chef experience or an appropriate cookery qualification
• Demonstrated experience preparing Indian and intercontinental cuisine
• Strong food preparation and cooking skills
• Ability to organise kitchen preparation and service
• Knowledge of menu planning, stock control and food-cost management
• Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen management
• Ability to maintain consistent food quality and presentation
• Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills
• Ability to work evenings and weekends
• Café or restaurant experience is desirable
• Experience developing Indian and intercontinental dishes and specials is desirable
• Experience with stock ordering and food-cost control is desirable
• Experience guiding or training kitchen staff is desirable
