The Opportunity

A leading aged care organisation in New South Wales is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef Manager to lead a residential aged care kitchen and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals that create positive dining experiences for residents.

This is a full-time position offering 76 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday, with a competitive salary of $92,820–$109,200 plus salary packaging benefits.

The Chef Manager will take a hands-on leadership role, overseeing kitchen operations, guiding the culinary team and ensuring food is prepared to a high standard while meeting nutritional, safety and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the kitchen team to ensure efficient daily operations
  • Plan and deliver nutritious, appealing and resident-focused meals
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, presentation and service
  • Manage food safety, hygiene and HACCP compliance
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, nutrition and consistency
  • Develop and improve menus in line with resident needs and preferences
  • Monitor kitchen processes, stock levels and food supplies
  • Manage kitchen resources and support effective cost control
  • Train, mentor and develop kitchen team members
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and collaborative workplace culture
  • Build strong relationships with residents, families, colleagues and other stakeholders
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across kitchen and dining services
  • Ensure all kitchen activities comply with relevant health, safety and regulatory requirements
  • Support a welcoming dining environment that promotes dignity, comfort and wellbeing for residents

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery
  • Proven experience managing a commercial or large-scale catering kitchen
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene and HACCP principles
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising and developing kitchen teams
  • Ability to prepare diverse, nutritious and high-quality meals
  • Strong understanding of nutritional requirements and meal presentation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities
  • Positive, flexible and collaborative approach to work
  • Experience in aged care, healthcare, hospitality or large-scale catering is highly desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in a resident-focused environment
