The Opportunity

A well-established, high-volume roadhouse in Western Australia is seeking an experienced, hands-on Chef to lead its kitchen operations. This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to take ownership of menu development, food quality and kitchen performance.

The role involves preparing hearty, high-quality meals for a diverse customer base, including travellers, truck drivers and local communities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to modernise the existing menu, introduce new dining and takeaway options, and bring fresh ideas to the kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily kitchen operations
  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals in a busy, high-volume environment
  • Prepare steaks to a consistently high standard
  • Develop and improve existing menus
  • Introduce new dinner, takeaway and dine-in meal options
  • Review and enhance breakfast offerings
  • Maintain food quality, presentation and consistency
  • Ensure efficient kitchen operations during peak service periods
  • Manage kitchen stock levels and place orders as required
  • Monitor food preparation and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Supervise and support kitchen staff
  • Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment
  • Manage food costs and minimise wastage
  • Work collaboratively with management to improve kitchen performance
  • Maintain consistent service standards across all shifts

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven experience as a Chef in a busy or high-volume kitchen
  • Strong commercial cooking and food preparation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare steaks to a high standard
  • Experience with menu development and food innovation
  • Strong leadership and kitchen management skills
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to maintain consistent food quality during busy service periods
  • Willingness to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays where required
  • Ability and willingness to live on-site
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to food safety, hygiene and workplace standards
  • Relevant culinary qualifications and/or substantial industry experience
