The Opportunity

Join a busy and growing hospitality business in New South Wales that specialises in fresh, fast-paced Asian fusion cuisine. We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef / Asian Fusion Chef to support the day-to-day kitchen operations, lead the team during service, and contribute to menu development.

This is a hands-on role suited to a confident chef with strong wok cooking skills and experience in high-volume kitchen environments. You will play a key role in maintaining food quality, leading kitchen staff, developing new menu ideas, and ensuring efficient kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the kitchen team during busy lunch and dinner services
  • Prepare and cook Asian fusion dishes to a consistently high standard
  • Operate wok stations confidently in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Develop new menu items and seasonal specials
  • Maintain consistency, presentation, quality and speed across all dishes
  • Assist with stock control, ordering and kitchen organisation
  • Prepare daily prep lists and manage food production efficiently
  • Ensure food safety, hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained
  • Train, mentor and support junior kitchen staff
  • Work closely with management to improve kitchen operations and menu offerings
  • Monitor food quality, minimise wastage and maintain cost control
  • Contribute to a positive, productive and team-focused kitchen environment

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Previous experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie or Senior Wok Chef
  • Strong wok cooking skills are essential
  • Experience preparing Asian fusion, Thai or similar cuisines
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen
  • Strong understanding of flavour profiles, sauces, food preparation and kitchen workflow
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise a kitchen team
  • Creative approach to menu development and new dish creation
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Reliable, motivated and able to work under pressure
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
