The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Breakfast Sous Chef to join a thriving hospitality venue in New South Wales and play a key role in establishing and leading a new breakfast operation.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity offering $80,000 + superannuation, a 38-hour, five-day working week and two consecutive days off each week. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef, lead a team of breakfast chefs and contribute to menu development, kitchen systems and daily operations.

The role is ideal for a confident chef with strong breakfast and brunch experience who enjoys leading a team, maintaining high food standards and working in a fast-paced professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead breakfast preparation and service to a consistently high standard
  • Support the Head Chef with the daily kitchen operation
  • Supervise, train and mentor a team of up to five breakfast chefs
  • Assist with breakfast menu development, seasonal changes and specials
  • Maintain consistency, quality and presentation across all dishes
  • Manage daily preparation and ensure the kitchen is ready for service
  • Assist with ordering, stock control, stock rotation and wastage management
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness and kitchen organisation
  • Monitor kitchen systems and ensure efficient workflow during service
  • Contribute to a positive, professional and productive kitchen culture
  • Support the wider kitchen operation when required
  • Help develop and maintain efficient breakfast kitchen procedures

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 2–5 years of experience in a Sous Chef or similar leadership position
  • Strong professional breakfast and brunch kitchen experience
  • Experience with modern Australian breakfast cuisine is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train and motivate junior kitchen staff
  • Strong understanding of food preparation, presentation and quality control
  • Knowledge of food safety, stock management, ordering and kitchen systems
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team
  • Professional attitude with a strong commitment to quality and consistency
  • Willingness to work early morning shifts from approximately 6:00am
  • Genuine interest in building a long-term career within the hospitality industry
