Electical Field Service Technician

An established Australian business specialising in commercial catering and foodservice equipment is seeking an experienced Electrician / Electrical Field Service Technician to join its technical service team in New South Wales.

This is a hands-on field service opportunity suited to an electrician who enjoys electrical fault finding, diagnostics, equipment servicing and solving technical problems across a variety of commercial equipment.

The role involves attending customer sites, diagnosing and repairing electrical faults, testing and commissioning equipment, providing technical support and assisting with workshop-based activities. Experience with commercial kitchen, catering, foodservice, industrial or electro-mechanical equipment will be highly regarded.

• Service, diagnose, test and repair commercial catering and foodservice equipment
• Perform electrical fault finding and troubleshooting across commercial appliances and equipment
• Attend customer sites for breakdowns, servicing, repairs, warranty work and commissioning
• Use appropriate electrical testing equipment to identify and diagnose faults
• Inspect, test and verify the safe operation and performance of electrical systems and components
• Carry out electrical wiring, component replacement, installations and equipment modifications where appropriately licensed
• Provide technical support to customers, technicians and internal staff
• Troubleshoot electrical and technical issues by phone and email
• Coordinate with external technicians and contractors regarding service requirements
• Manage service and warranty jobs through to successful resolution
• Liaise with manufacturers and suppliers regarding technical issues, electrical components and spare parts
• Identify and arrange required electrical components and spare parts for repairs
• Test, set up and commission new commercial equipment
• Assist with equipment assembly and electrical setup
• Maintain accurate records of service work, repairs and parts used
• Assist with workshop and warehouse activities as required
• Follow all relevant electrical, workplace health and safety procedures

• Relevant electrical trade qualification
• Current electrical licence or appropriate licensing eligibility
• Strong experience in electrical fault finding, diagnostics, testing, servicing and repairs
• Good knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, controls and components
• Experience working with commercial appliances, machinery or electrical equipment
• Commercial catering, foodservice or kitchen equipment experience is highly desirable
• Experience in electrical field service, industrial equipment, commercial appliances or electro-mechanical equipment will also be considered
• Strong practical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to independently diagnose faults and determine suitable repair solutions
• Previous customer-site or field service experience
• Good communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work professionally with customers, technicians, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple service requirements
• Reliable, safety-conscious and practical approach to work
• Gas experience or relevant gas licensing is advantageous
• Forklift experience or licence is advantageous
• Current Australian driver's licence or equivalent
