Electrician

A specialist electrical opportunity is available for an experienced Electrician or Junior Electrician to join a team working across standby generator systems and critical power infrastructure in New South Wales.

This role is suited to electricians who want to apply their existing trade skills while developing deeper expertise in generator controls, automatic transfer systems, PLCs, switchgear and electrical fault finding. You will work on commercial buildings, major shutdowns, generator testing, repairs and system upgrades, with technical support from an engineering team.

• Carry out major and minor standby generator system upgrade projects
• Perform generator testing during commercial building shutdowns and fire-system testing
• Complete electrical installation, repairs, maintenance and upgrades on standby generator systems
• Fault-find, test and diagnose generator controllers and PLC systems
• Work with Automatic Transfer Switches, control systems and associated switchgear
• Read and interpret electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
• Assist with control system wiring, telemetry and generator system commissioning
• Work independently to identify and resolve technical issues
• Support and coordinate work within a small electrical team
• Work closely with engineers to deliver technical projects and system solutions
• Participate in scheduled weekend and night works
• Complete additional shutdown and testing work, including overtime opportunities

• Current NSW Electrical Licence is essential
• Relevant practical experience as an Electrician or Junior Electrician
• Strong ability to read and follow electrical schematics and single-line diagrams
• Practical hands-on trade experience and confidence using electrical tools
• Ability to work autonomously and solve electrical and technical problems
• Ability to work effectively within a small team
• Experience with standby generator controllers such as Deep Sea, Cummins, CAT or Woodward is advantageous
• Interest or experience in generator control systems, PLCs, telemetry and control wiring
• Must reside in Sydney or be willing to relocate
• Full NSW Driver Licence required
• Ability to drive a manual vehicle
• Willingness to undertake weekend and night work as required
