The Opportunity

This Perth employer is an advanced manufacturer expanding fast on the back of demand for modular critical power infrastructure and AI data centre solutions. It wants two trade-qualified welders who can step straight into structural and module welding, full time and ongoing.

From a recruiter's view, the shortlist will go to people who can show GMAW skill on solid wire, comfort reading engineering drawings and weld maps, and clean, compliant welds on skid bases, frames and enclosures. Cored wire experience will help you stand out, and you should expect a 2F test in mild steel.

Hours are 40.5 per week, from 6:00am to 3:30pm on Mondays to Thursdays and 6:00am to 12:30pm on Fridays. The employer says visa sponsorship is available for the right overseas candidates.

To stand out, tailor your CV to the duties listed here: name the wire types you run, the positions you weld and the structural sections you have worked on. Tailor a GMAW welder CV on Build AI CV and keep your trade certificates ready to share.

  • Weld structural members, 530UB beams and 150x100 RS rafters among them, to drawings and weld maps

  • Read and interpret technical drawings, weld maps and job specifications, then work from them
  • Complete steel prep, fit-up and tacking before each weld
  • Inspect completed welds by eye to confirm they meet specifications
  • Pitch in with general fabrication and assembly when the team needs it, and keep the work area safe, clean and organised to company and WHS standards
