Field Service Technician - Agriculture

A leading agricultural machinery business in New Zealand is seeking a qualified and experienced Field Service Technician to join its established service team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled diesel or heavy machinery technician to work with advanced agricultural equipment and support farmers and rural contractors with reliable technical solutions. The role offers ongoing training, modern diagnostic technology, strong team support and opportunities for professional development.

The successful technician will work across a wide range of agricultural machinery, including tractors, harvesting equipment and other specialised farm machinery.

• Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults across agricultural machinery
• Carrying out servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance on tractors and farm equipment
• Using advanced diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve technical issues
• Attending customer sites and providing efficient field-based technical support
• Working independently to assess faults and determine appropriate repair solutions
• Servicing and repairing modern agricultural machinery and tractor systems
• Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety across all service work
• Completing accurate service reports, job documentation and required paperwork
• Communicating professionally with customers and providing a high level of customer service
• Working collaboratively with the wider service and technical team
• Keeping up to date with modern agricultural machinery technology and electronic systems
• Participating in ongoing technical training and professional development
• Responding to urgent breakdowns and participating in an on-call roster when required

• Qualified Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Machinery Technician
• Relevant qualification at NZQF Level 4 or higher, or an equivalent overseas qualification
• Experience in servicing and repairing agricultural tractors or heavy machinery
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience using electronic diagnostic equipment
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
• Strong understanding of modern tractor and agricultural machinery systems
• Previous field service experience is highly desirable
• Experience with forage harvesters is advantageous but not essential
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and manage field-based service tasks
• Strong work ethic, reliability and a professional approach
• Willingness to undertake ongoing technical training
• Ability to participate in an on-call roster when required
