Furniture Upholsterer

A well-established furniture recovering business in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Furniture Upholsterer to join its team. The business has more than 30 years of experience specialising in furniture recovering, restoration and upholstery across a wide range of furniture styles, from antique pieces to modern furniture.

This role is suited to an experienced upholsterer who can work independently with minimal training or supervision. Sponsorship available for the right candidate who meets the required skills and experience.

• Upholster a wide range of furniture including antique and modern pieces
• Strip, recover and restore furniture to a high professional standard
• Work independently with minimal training or assistance
• Use upholstery tools, machinery and equipment safely and effectively
• Lift and move furniture frames on and off work benches
• Load and unload furniture frames into vans or trucks when required
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area
• Complete upholstery work efficiently while maintaining quality standards
• Work collaboratively with other specialist staff
• Assist with additional upholstery-related tasks during busy periods
• Work 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday
• Work overtime when required during busy periods

• Minimum 5 years of professional upholstery experience
• Strong experience upholstering different types and styles of furniture
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Physically fit and capable of lifting and moving furniture frames
• Ability to safely use upholstery tools and related equipment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Reliable and flexible approach to working hours
• Ability to work additional hours when required
• Experience in cutting, sewing or furniture frame making is advantageous but not essential
