Mental Health Nurse

This hospital is a private mental health provider in Melbourne, and it is staffing a ward with permanent full-time nurses. • Deliver complete mental health assessments
• Deliver nursing care shaped around the individual and look after patients affected by anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or other conditions
• Evaluate risk
• Conduct mental state examinations
• Observe and monitor patients
• Take responsibility for administering medications
• Follow treatment responses
• Provide crisis intervention
• Plan recovery alongside patients
• Practise therapeutic engagement
• Work with psychiatrists, psychologists, allied health staff and nursing colleagues
• Document care accurately
• Work on discharge planning

• Experience in inpatient mental health or psychiatric nursing, as a qualified Registered Nurse
• Registered with AHPRA already, or eligible to obtain Australian nursing registration
• Strong clinical assessment and risk management skills
• Strong skills in communication
• Acute mental health, adult psychiatry or specialist inpatient services experience
• Committed to providing recovery-focused, trauma-informed and person-centred care
