Motor Mechanic

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join a professional automotive team in Western Australia. This opportunity is initially offered on a 6-month contract, with both full-time and part-time options available.

The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of light vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, reliable and roadworthy. There is potential for the role to transition into a permanent position based on performance and business requirements.

• Diagnose vehicle faults and assess vehicle performance through appropriate testing
• Carry out mechanical repairs on engines, steering systems, transmissions, braking systems, wheel alignment and air-conditioning systems
• Perform scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance in accordance with vehicle service manuals
• Repair and restore vehicles that have sustained accident or other damage
• Inspect mechanical and electronic components and identify faults
• Ensure vehicles are safe, roadworthy and compliant with relevant state regulations
• Prepare and maintain accurate vehicle service and repair records
• Work closely with the car hire operations team to ensure vehicles are available for customer bookings
• Maintain a clean, organised and WorkSafe-compliant workshop environment
• Monitor, maintain and order vehicle spare parts and workshop inventory
• Discuss identified faults, recommended repairs and estimated repair costs with management
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team

• Trade qualification in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Motor Mechanic / Light Vehicle Mechanic
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills
• IELTS Band 6 or above is preferred
• Current and valid driver's licence
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electronic vehicle faults accurately
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
• Good time management and ability to meet operational requirements
• Ability to communicate repair recommendations and cost estimates clearly to management
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
