Motor Mechanic

A well-established automotive workshop in Victoria is seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic – Light Vehicle to join its growing team.

This opportunity is suited to a mechanic with proven hands-on capability across servicing, diagnostics, mechanical repairs and fault finding. Experience with European vehicles will be highly regarded, particularly Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

The role offers exposure to a broad range of light vehicles, modern diagnostic technology and varied mechanical repair work. The successful candidate will work within a professional workshop environment where quality workmanship, accurate diagnosis, safety and customer service are highly valued.

• Perform scheduled vehicle servicing and preventative maintenance
• Carry out engine oil and filter changes, tune-ups and general mechanical servicing
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment
• Inspect, maintain and repair petrol engines and associated mechanical components
• Service and repair transmission systems
• Inspect and repair suspension, steering and braking systems
• Replace brake pads, brake rotors, suspension components and other worn parts
• Dismantle engines, transmissions and mechanical assemblies for inspection and repair
• Reassemble mechanical components and complete repairs to a high standard
• Identify and rectify vehicle faults using technical information and manufacturer specifications
• Use service manuals and technical repair information when required
• Conduct vehicle inspections and identify required repairs
• Road test vehicles following repairs to confirm correct operation
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop environment
• Work effectively with other members of the workshop team

• Recognised trade qualification as a Motor Mechanic – Light Vehicle or equivalent
• Minimum 12 months of relevant automotive industry experience
• Sound knowledge of modern light vehicle mechanical and electrical systems
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
• Hands-on experience with vehicle servicing and mechanical repairs
• Experience with brakes, suspension, engines and transmission systems
• Ability to interpret and follow manufacturer repair information and technical procedures
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Current driver's licence
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills and professional attitude
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy workshop environment
• Experience with European vehicles will be highly regarded
• Experience with Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, BMW or Mercedes-Benz will be advantageous
