Quality Assurance Manager

A leading Australian export food processing business is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to take ownership of quality, compliance and food safety within a highly regulated processing environment in New South Wales.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified food safety or quality professional looking to progress into a senior leadership position. You will oversee quality systems, food safety programs, regulatory compliance, audit readiness and a dedicated QA team while working closely with senior management.

• Maintain and continuously improve quality management systems and food safety programs
• Manage Approved Arrangements and ensure ongoing regulatory compliance
• Lead internal, regulatory and customer audits and maintain daily audit readiness
• Manage corrective and preventive actions and ensure non-conformances are investigated and effectively resolved
• Conduct verification activities, traceability exercises and mock recalls
• Oversee document control, quality records and regulatory notifications
• Lead the QA team in pre-operational, hygiene and process verification activities
• Promote and maintain a strong food safety and quality culture across the site
• Monitor compliance with customer specifications and quality standards
• Investigate quality issues and implement sustainable corrective actions
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across quality and food safety operations
• Act as the site Animal Welfare Officer and ensure relevant industry requirements are maintained
• Provide leadership, guidance and development to QA team members
• Work collaboratively with production and management teams to maintain high quality and compliance standards

• Qualification in Food Science, Food Technology, Agricultural Science, Quality Management or a related discipline
• Previous experience in quality assurance, food safety or compliance within food manufacturing or processing
• Strong knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety systems
• Experience managing or participating in internal, external or regulatory audits
• Demonstrated ability to investigate non-conformances and implement effective corrective actions
• Experience with quality systems, documentation and compliance processes
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
• Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated food processing environment
• Experience in beef processing, export meat processing, DAFF requirements or Approved Arrangements is highly regarded but not essential
• Willingness to undertake further training and development as required
