The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a leading Australian manufacturing company. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys driving reliability improvements, delivering capital projects, and implementing innovative engineering solutions that enhance plant performance and operational efficiency.

Working closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams, you will lead mechanical engineering initiatives from concept through to commissioning while supporting continuous improvement, predictive maintenance, and long-term asset reliability across a modern manufacturing facility.

Key Responsibilities

Lead mechanical engineering, reliability improvement and capital projects
Develop engineering designs, technical drawings, specifications and project documentation using CAD
Improve equipment reliability and optimise asset lifecycle performance
Support predictive maintenance and condition monitoring programs
Plan and oversee equipment upgrades, installations and commissioning activities
Provide engineering support for rotating equipment, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Identify and implement opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce downtime
Collaborate with production, maintenance and project teams to deliver engineering solutions
Manage contractors and ensure projects are completed safely, on time and within budget
Mentor engineers and maintenance personnel while promoting engineering best practices
Maintain compliance with workplace health, safety and quality standards

Requirements & Eligibility

Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
Experience in heavy manufacturing, industrial processing, mining, FMCG, timber, steel, pulp and paper or similar industries
Proven experience delivering reliability improvement and capital engineering projects
Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and industrial machinery
Experience preparing engineering drawings and technical documentation using CAD software
Excellent project management and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
Commitment to continuous improvement and engineering excellence
