The Opportunity

From a recruiter's chair, this Melbourne Software Engineer vacancy is looking for breadth. The hiring business wants one person who is comfortable analysing user requirements, writing application code, plugging in AI and machine learning, testing, documenting and then maintaining what was built.

To stand out, match your application to the listed duties line by line. Show a project where you trained and tuned a model, another where you wrote an API, and say which languages you used. Have your degree certificate on hand. The business notes that it may be able to sponsor a visa for a suitably qualified and experienced applicant, and it will accept applications until 12 November 2026.

A tailored CV does most of the talking at shortlist stage. Tailor a full-stack and ML engineer CV through Build AI CV so that each duty in this listing has matching evidence beside it.

  • Translate business requirements into software designs and technical specifications once you have analysed them
  • Design software applications in Python, Node.js, C++ and C#/.NET
  • Develop those applications and maintain them over time
  • Integrate AI functionality built on large language models, with LangChain, Flowise and LangGraph among the frameworks
  • Build machine learning models that handle predictive analysis, anomaly detection, classification and regression, and evaluate the results
  • Apply techniques from natural language processing, image processing and sentiment analysis to the relevant applications
  • Take models through data preprocessing, feature selection, training and performance optimisation
  • Get software systems communicating by developing database integrations and APIs
  • Run integration and unit testing, pick up defects and make corrective changes
  • Review colleagues' code and look after the security, performance, quality and reliability of the software
  • Maintain testing records
  • Prepare and update system documentation and technical specifications
