Station Mechanic
The Opportunity
Seen from the recruiter's desk, the client is a pastoral company with a string of cattle stations in remote northern Western Australia, and it wants two mechanics who can work with little backup. The vacancy carries a Broome, WA listing, but day to day you would be on the stations themselves.
What gets you shortlisted is proof you can keep diesel trucks, bikes and machinery running when the nearest supplier is hours away, plus the temperament to train station hands on routine checks. Shortlisting also weighs commitment, because sponsorship is on offer for skilled, eligible candidates who meet the ad's criteria and the client asks for long-term applicants only.
Be upfront that you can handle extreme heat and humidity, and note that alcohol and drug testing may take place, with zero tolerance.
