The Opportunity

This Hamilton shop is owner-run, and the owner wants an experienced barber at the next chair to help look after a clientele that keeps growing.

From a recruiter's view, three things matter here. First, quality under time pressure: a clean zero fade and beard trim, every time. Second, independence, because you will often work with minimal supervision. Third, fitting into a multicultural team. The shop offers 35 to 40 hours each week and room to progress as it expands.

The employer is accredited for the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) in New Zealand, and visa sponsorship help is available if required for a suitable candidate.

To stand out, tailor your CV to the duties above: name the shops you have worked in, how long you spent in each, and the fade, beard and blade-shave work you handle. Tailor a fade-and-beard focused CV with Build AI CV and keep it in clear English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce quality cuts and trims efficiently, including shaving and trimming beards and moustaches
  • Talk clients through haircut options and recommend products for their hair
  • Keep equipment, workstation and the shop clean between cuts, and handle opening and closing when needed
  • Work largely unsupervised as part of a multicultural team

  • At least 1 year of barbershop experience
  • Proven ability to do a quality zero fade and beard trim every time
