Barista

A verified employment opportunity is available for an experienced Barista to join a busy and well-established café environment in Otago, New Zealand.

This role is suited to a confident hospitality professional who takes pride in producing consistently high-quality coffee, delivering efficient customer service and working effectively in a fast-paced service environment. You will work as part of a friendly team and be responsible for preparing espresso-based beverages, supporting front-of-house operations and maintaining high standards of presentation, cleanliness and customer service.

• Prepare and serve high-quality espresso-based coffee and other hot beverages
• Operate commercial espresso machines, grinders and beverage equipment safely and efficiently
• Maintain consistency, speed and accuracy during busy service periods
• Provide friendly, professional and efficient customer service
• Take customer orders and process payments using the POS system
• Prepare and present cabinet food and café products to required standards
• Maintain a clean, organised and professional coffee station and service area
• Clean and maintain coffee equipment, utensils and work areas
• Monitor coffee, milk, cups, syrups and other beverage supplies
• Assist with stock replenishment and report low stock levels
• Support café opening and closing procedures
• Work collaboratively with the wider café and front-of-house team
• Follow workplace food safety, hygiene and cleaning requirements

• Previous experience as a Barista in a busy café, restaurant or hospitality environment
• Strong espresso coffee-making and milk texturing skills
• Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Good knowledge of commercial coffee equipment
• Strong attention to detail and personal presentation
• Reliable, punctual and professional work ethic
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and cleaning standards
• Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including at least one weekend day
