The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Chef de Partie to join the opening team of a premium Italian-inspired restaurant in New Zealand. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a professional kitchen operation focused on seasonal produce, fresh pasta, pizzettas, quality, precision, and consistency.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef, taking responsibility for a designated kitchen section and delivering high-quality dishes during service. This is a hands-on position suited to a skilled chef with strong technical ability and experience working in a structured commercial kitchen.

Sponsorship is available for suitable overseas candidates who meet the relevant Accredited Employer Work Visa requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and operate an assigned kitchen section
  • Prepare and execute dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Assist with fresh pasta production and traditional dough preparation
  • Maintain consistent food quality and presentation during busy service periods
  • Support food cost control, stock management, and ordering processes
  • Maintain compliance with New Zealand food safety requirements
  • Keep the workstation clean, organised, and professional at all times
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Chef, Sous Chef, and wider kitchen team
  • Contribute to staff development and a positive kitchen culture
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, organisation, and kitchen discipline

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant professional chef experience
  • Proven experience in a structured, high-volume commercial kitchen
  • Italian cuisine experience is strongly preferred
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, stock control, and commercial kitchen systems
  • Relevant cookery qualification such as NZ Level 4 or equivalent is preferred
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure during busy service periods
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required
  • Ability to work as part of a six-day kitchen operation
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand or meet Accredited Employer Work Visa requirements
