The Opportunity

An established industrial surface treatment business in Western Australia is seeking experienced Workshop Blasters & Painters to join its growing team. This opportunity is suited to skilled tradespeople with strong experience in industrial blasting, protective coating application and workshop-based operations.

Successful candidates will join a quality and safety-focused workplace supporting major projects across mining, oil and gas, infrastructure and commercial sectors. Key Responsibilities

Prepare steel and other surfaces for industrial coating applications
Perform abrasive blasting to required Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
Apply industrial coatings including zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxies and polyurethanes
Operate airless and conventional spray-painting equipment
Apply coatings to specified dry film thickness requirements
Use wet film gauges and follow coating specifications
Adjust application techniques according to environmental and operating conditions
Complete full coating processes including surface cleanliness and stripe coating
Follow relevant QA/QC procedures and quality standards
Troubleshoot, clean and maintain blasting and painting equipment
Maintain blasting rooms, spray equipment and workshop tools
Load and unload blasting trolleys safely
Work safely and contribute to efficient workshop operations

Requirements & Eligibility

Minimum 3 years of industrial blasting and painting experience
Previous workshop-based experience is essential
Strong knowledge of industrial coating systems
Experience with zinc-rich primers, high-build epoxies and polyurethanes
Ability to operate airless and conventional spray equipment
Experience applying coatings to specified film thicknesses
Understanding of surface preparation, substrate cleanliness and coating processes
Experience grit blasting to Sa 2.5 and Sa 3 standards
Ability to maintain and troubleshoot blasting equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Ability to work extended shifts and occasional weekend work
Forklift licence or ticket is desirable
Experience operating gantry or overhead cranes is desirable
