The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Chef de Partie to join a well-established premium hospitality venue in Southland, New Zealand. This full-time role is ideal for a passionate chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced commercial kitchen, preparing high-quality dishes across a variety of dining styles.

You will work alongside an experienced culinary team, maintaining exceptional food quality, consistency, and presentation while supporting daily kitchen operations. This position offers excellent career development opportunities within a professional hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes to established recipes and standards
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control
  • Assist with daily kitchen operations and food preparation
  • Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards are maintained
  • Support menu preparation and seasonal menu implementation
  • Monitor food quality and minimise kitchen waste
  • Work efficiently during busy service periods while meeting deadlines
  • Assist with stock rotation and inventory management
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
  • Collaborate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house team members
  • Support catering, functions, and special events as required
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial kitchen experience
  • Level 4 Cookery qualification or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role
  • Hotel, function, or high-volume kitchen experience is advantageous
  • Experience in à la carte, fusion, or Asian cuisine is an advantage
  • Strong passion for producing high-quality food
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude with flexibility to work various shifts
  • Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Willingness to relocate to Southland, New Zealand
