Fitter

An established Australian engineering and maintenance organisation is seeking experienced Fitters for full-time, permanent positions across workshop and client-site environments in Western Australia.

This is an opportunity for qualified mechanical tradespeople to work across heavy industrial maintenance, fixed plant, mobile equipment and capital works. The role offers a professional and safety-focused workplace, opportunities for career progression, and long-term employment stability.

• Interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and technical information to determine suitable materials, methods and machine settings
• Fit, assemble, install and maintain mechanical components, machinery and equipment
• Carry out mechanical maintenance, refurbishment, overhaul and repair of fixed plant and mobile equipment
• Inspect mechanical components and record critical information during refurbishment and maintenance activities
• Measure and check components for correct fit, accuracy, tolerances and suitability using appropriate measuring equipment
• Perform metalworking processes including pressing, cutting, grinding and forming to required tolerances
• Carry out hydraulic and pneumatic pipe and line maintenance, including threading, bending and cutting
• Diagnose mechanical and equipment faults and carry out effective fault-finding procedures
• Undertake preventative and corrective maintenance activities on a range of industrial machinery
• Complete mechanical and fluid power repairs on plant and equipment
• Support sustainable capital works and equipment improvement projects
• Work effectively across workshop and client-site environments
• Follow workplace health, safety and environmental procedures and contribute to a Zero Harm culture
• Work collaboratively with other tradespeople, supervisors and site teams

• Recognised trade qualification in Fitting and Turning or equivalent mechanical trade qualification
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in heavy industry, workshop or site-based environments
• Demonstrated experience in mechanical fitting, maintenance, overhaul and repair
• Experience working with fixed plant, mobile equipment, hydraulic or pneumatic systems
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and technical specifications
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment and hand and power tools safely
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety and Zero Harm principles
• Previous leadership or team-leading experience is advantageous
• Current and valid driver's licence
• Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and meet fitness-for-work requirements
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a professional team
