Head Grower – High-Tech Hydroponic Tomato Greenhouse

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Head Grower to lead a modern hydroponic tomato greenhouse operation in Western Australia. This is a unique chance to join a new, purpose-built protected cropping project from its early stages, with the opportunity to contribute during the design and commissioning phase before taking full responsibility for commercial crop production.

The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of greenhouse growing operations, ensuring optimum crop health, productivity, and quality while leading a small growing team. As the business expands, there will also be opportunities to contribute to future crop diversification and the continued development of the operation.

• Take full responsibility for crop health, yield, and product quality
• Manage greenhouse climate including temperature, humidity, CO₂, irrigation, and ventilation
• Optimise growing conditions using climate control and crop steering techniques
• Monitor and manage nutrient dosing, fertigation, and irrigation programs
• Implement and oversee Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies
• Monitor production performance and achieve yield targets
• Maintain accurate crop, production, and operational records
• Prepare production reports for management
• Lead, train, and supervise the greenhouse growing team
• Support greenhouse commissioning and operational setup
• Contribute to future expansion and protected crop diversification initiatives
• Maintain high standards of workplace safety, hygiene, and quality assurance

• Proven experience growing tomatoes in a high-tech hydroponic greenhouse environment
• Strong knowledge of greenhouse climate control and crop management
• Experience managing hydroponic irrigation and nutrient programs
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience
• Strong understanding of crop health, plant nutrition, and production planning
• Current driver's licence
• Experience using climate control systems such as Priva or similar is advantageous
• Experience with gutter or NFT growing systems is desirable
• Experience growing other protected crops such as strawberries is an advantage
• Willingness to relocate or work within Western Australia
