Maintenance Fitter

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter – Thermoforming Specialist to join a successful food manufacturing operation in Western Australia.

This permanent full-time position is ideal for a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter with strong experience maintaining thermoforming and high-speed packaging machinery. Experience with MULTIVAC equipment is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining reliable production operations, diagnosing mechanical faults, completing preventative maintenance and supporting continuous improvement across sophisticated packaging systems.

• Preventative and reactive maintenance of thermoforming and packaging machinery
• Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults and equipment breakdowns
• Troubleshooting thermoforming and automated packaging systems
• Performing routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities
• Supporting production line changeovers and machine optimisation
• Maintaining forming stations, heating systems and sealing stations
• Maintaining vacuum and compressed air systems
• Working with cutting, punching and servo-driven machinery
• Maintaining film feed and tension control systems
• Supporting MAP and vacuum packaging systems
• Completing tooling changes and equipment optimisation
• Maintaining conveyors and automated product handling systems
• Conducting root cause analysis of recurring equipment failures
• Supporting continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives
• Working closely with production and engineering teams to maximise equipment uptime
• Assisting with installation and commissioning of new machinery
• Responding to equipment breakdowns and production maintenance requirements
• Following workplace health, safety and preventative maintenance procedures

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting and Machining, or a related discipline
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Fitter in a manufacturing, food production, packaging or processing environment
• Demonstrated experience working with thermoforming machinery
• Strong knowledge of thermoforming systems and packaging equipment
• Experience with MULTIVAC thermoformers is highly desirable
• Experience with MULTIVAC R-Series machines is advantageous
• Experience with vacuum packaging systems is highly regarded
• Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Experience with high-speed production and packaging lines
• Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and production equipment
• Ability to work independently and under pressure
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and preventative maintenance
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Flexibility to work rotating shifts
