Metal Fabricator

We are seeking an experienced Metal Fabricator to join a professional structural steel team in Western Australia. This full-time permanent opportunity involves on-site metal fabrication, welding and structural steel modifications across active construction projects.

The role is suited to a qualified Metal Fabricator or Boilermaker with strong structural steel experience, the ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding specifications, and the practical skills required to work safely in a construction environment.

• Study and interpret structural engineering drawings, specifications and work orders to determine fabrication requirements
• Select, inspect and prepare materials, tools and equipment for on-site fabrication
• Mark out dimensions, reference points and lines onto metal surfaces
• Set up and operate flame cutters, grinders and other cutting equipment
• Straighten, bend, form and shape steel sections and plates using manual and portable equipment
• Assemble steel sections and plates using bolting and welding techniques
• Position components for welding using manual handling equipment, cranes and hoists in coordination with the rigging crew
• Tack weld components to maintain correct alignment before final welding
• Perform MMAW, GMAW, FCAW and GTAW welding processes as required
• Carry out on-site structural steel modifications, including cutting, drilling and welding
• Fabricate and modify connections, brackets, cleats and structural steel members
• Maintain safe work practices and follow site safety procedures and requirements

• Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (MEM30319) or equivalent trade qualification recognised in Australia
• Minimum 3 years of post-trade experience as a Metal Fabricator or Boilermaker
• Demonstrated structural steel welding experience using MMAW, GMAW and FCAW processes
• Ability to read and interpret structural engineering drawings, welding symbols and specifications
• Current and valid Construction Induction (White Card)
• Current and valid Working at Heights certification
• Physically capable of performing on-site fabrication duties, including working at heights and in confined spaces
• Ability to work safely in variable weather and active construction environments
• Valid Australian work rights or eligibility for skilled visa sponsorship under the Skills in Demand visa (subclass 482)
• Current driver's licence
• Reliable transport
• Availability to work full-time, including occasional Saturday mornings
