Production Manager

A leading resources and manufacturing business in Queensland, Australia is seeking an experienced Production Manager to take end-to-end responsibility for a large-scale solar salt production operation.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced salt production professional to lead a high-volume operation producing 200,000+ tonnes of salt annually, with significant growth planned for the future.

The role oversees the complete production cycle, including seawater pumping, evaporation, crystallisation, harvesting, washing, stacking and stockpile management. You will lead a multi-skilled production team while maintaining strong commercial accountability for production costs, inventory and operational performance.

• Own the end-to-end solar salt production process from seawater intake through to finished stockpile
• Manage evaporation, crystallisation, harvesting, washing, stacking and stockpile operations
• Plan and manage seasonal production activities and weather-related operational risks
• Lead, develop and multi-skill a frontline production team of approximately 10+ employees
• Monitor production performance, inventory levels and cost-per-tonne outcomes
• Maintain product quality and ensure production consistently meets required specifications
• Identify and implement opportunities to improve production efficiency and operational resilience
• Support capital improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives
• Provide technical and operational guidance to resolve process-related issues
• Monitor operational risks and make sound decisions during unusual or high-impact events
• Work closely with internal technical specialists and external consultants
• Maintain effective production processes in line with operating procedures and site requirements
• Contribute to the long-term growth and development of the production operation

• Proven experience in solar salt production or a closely related production environment
• International solar salt production experience is welcome
• Strong understanding of evaporation, crystallisation and salt production processes
• Alternatively, a strong technical background in chemical engineering, chemistry or a related discipline with relevant crystallisation experience
• Demonstrated experience leading frontline, multi-skilled production teams
• Strong commercial understanding with experience managing production costs and inventory KPIs
• Proven ability to manage seasonal operations and weather-driven production risks
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making and technical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to lead, motivate and develop a production workforce
• Strong understanding of production quality and process control requirements
• Willingness to relocate and live on-site in regional Queensland
• Ability to work effectively in a hands-on operational leadership environment
