The Opportunity

What this hiring manager wants is simple to describe and hard to find. They need a planner who can own the production schedule at a growing primary-sector food business in Hamilton, translate sales demand into realistic runs and stay calm while the deer velvet peak season carries on through to February/March.

The business exports mainly to China and Southeast Asia. The job is full-time at 40 hours per week, with extra hours over the peak, and the start is as soon as possible. You would manage one direct report, so it suits someone ready for a first leadership step with scope to grow.

Applicants need to be already in New Zealand, and offshore candidates are not considered. As an accredited employer, the company also welcomes candidates who need Accredited Employer Work Visa sponsorship, as long as they are in the country now and have New Zealand work experience.

To stand out, lead your CV with a schedule you rebuilt or a forecast you improved, then show your SAP or ERP depth and any MPI or export work. Align your planner CV with this brief in Build AI CV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the production plan, balancing capacity, cost and quality targets
  • Produce demand forecasts and a longer-horizon operational outlook
  • Develop the value SAP delivers, keeping master data, inventories and bills of materials accurate
  • Keep supply chain activity moving, working with packaging suppliers and managing dispatch, and support QA on traceability, MPI and export market standards

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Proven production planning in a manufacturing setting, with strong forecasting
  • Hands-on ERP experience, SAP strongly preferred (training available)
  • Background in food or primary industry manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of QA
  • A clear communicator, confident in managing customer expectations
  • Practical, resilient and adaptable when deadlines move
  • Team leadership, health and safety experience or knowledge of exporting to Asia would be desirable
  • Reference checks plus a Ministry of Justice criminal record check for shortlisted applicants
