The opportunity

This Brisbane-based telco contractor has a precise brief for its next Telecommunications Field Engineer: someone who has already led RF and Tx integration, commissioning and carrier acceptance, and who can also rig with the right tickets. The company is Australian-owned and serves carriers and prime contractors across the country on rigging, civil, transmission and structure work.

From a recruiter's point of view, the strongest applications will show greenfield builds and brownfield co-locations, tower steelwork and acceptance packs that met carrier standards. The job is full-time and direct with the employer rather than labour hire, listed under ANZSCO 313212, with travel to remote and metro sites nationwide.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of integration, commissioning and acceptance for RF and Tx on greenfield and brownfield telecommunications sites
  • Produce acceptance packs to the carrier's documented standard
  • Install, then commission, microwave dishes, outdoor cabinets, antennas, feeders and RUs
  • Step in with structural rigging when the job calls for it, e.g. upgrades, extensions and face frames, working beside the riggers
  • Work to the company's or client's HSE system (SWMS, exclusion zones, permits, rescue plans) while mobilising to sites in metro areas and remote parts of the country

Requirements and eligibility

  • A proven record as a telco Field Engineer
  • Hands-on RF and Tx integration, commissioning and carrier acceptance pack experience
  • Rigging ticket held at Advanced or Intermediate level
  • Current certificates: EWP, Working at Heights, First Aid
  • Steelwork experience on telco towers (structural)
  • Willing to go to remote sites and mobilise at short notice
  • Open QLD driver's licence; MR/HR and other tickets beneficial
