The Opportunity

Talynx is recruiting for a civil and mining training provider in Western Australia that wants trainer-assessors with real seat time on heavy plant. The brief is clear: a current TAE qualification, hands-on operating background, and the patience to coach learners one-on-one until they are safe and confident enough to be hired.

Of the two vacancies, 1 is a Civil Trainer & Assessor on weekday 8-12 hour shifts (alternating Saturdays available) and 1 is a Dozer / Excavator Trainer for production mining D11 and 3600 machines, a hybrid across 2 mine sites. Training runs on a live mine around 60 minutes north of Perth CBD, so you are home every evening rather than on FIFO. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

To stand out, mirror the duties below with examples of competency-based assessments you have run and new operators you have mentored.

Recruiters shortlist trainer applicants faster when each machine on the CV has its unit code beside it. Sharpen a trainer-assessor CV in Build AI CV so that detail is easy to spot.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, nationally recognised training plus competency-based assessments, and record them accurately
  • Run practical machine operator training one-on-one on a live operating mine site
  • Mentor students into civil and mining industry employment
  • Work within site procedures, industry best practice, the WHS Act 2020, Mines Safety and Inspection legislation and RTO standards
  • Deem competent only those operators who truly are, keeping assessment integrity intact
  • Collaborate with a supportive training team to keep learning safe, professional and positive
  • Mining trainer: fill in on civil training whenever Dozer & Excavator programmes are not running

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Current TAE40122, TAE40116 or TAE40110 held
  • Relevant operating experience on civil and mining equipment, with supervisory experience desirable
  • Steady under pressure and able to make decisions
  • Equally effective working solo or within a team
  • Sharp time management, which is crucial with customers who have paid for training
  • Genuinely passionate about helping people
  • Proud to uphold high safety and training standards
  • Reliable, professional, punctual
  • Will pass a pre-employment medical and daily breathalyser requirements
  • Civil Trainer: highly regarded if you hold current competency and experience on multiple civil plant items, e.g. Integrated Tool Carrier RIIHAN311F, Telehandler RIIHAN309F, Front End Loader RIIMPO321F, Civil Construction Excavator RIIMPO320F, Skid Steer Loader RIIMPO318F, Articulated Haul Truck RIIMPO337E, Rigid Haul Truck RIIMPO338E, Roller RIIMPO317F and Bulk Water Truck RIIMPO206D
  • Mining Trainer: RIIMPO323E Dozer and RIIMPO324F Grader, with RII qualifications not required but desirable; the civil plant units above give you an added advantage
