Welder / Fabricator

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Welder / Fabricator to join a growing manufacturing company in the Manawatū-Whanganui region. This permanent, full-time position offers the chance to work in a modern, well-equipped workshop producing high-quality custom metal products for a diverse range of industries.

You will be involved in the fabrication, welding, assembly, repair, and finishing of custom components using a variety of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel. Working alongside a skilled and supportive team, you'll have access to advanced fabrication technology while enjoying excellent work-life balance with a four-day work week.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• Measure, cut, shape, fit, and assemble metal components
• Perform MIG and TIG welding on aluminium, stainless steel, and mild steel
• Fabricate products to high standards of quality and accuracy
• Carry out grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing work
• Operate fabrication machinery and workshop equipment safely
• Complete repairs and modifications to fabricated components
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
• Work independently and collaboratively to achieve production targets
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
• Contribute to continuous improvement and efficient workshop operations

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Welder/Fabricator or a recognised trade qualification in welding, fabrication, or engineering
• Proven MIG and TIG welding experience
• Experience working with aluminium and stainless steel
• Ability to accurately read and interpret engineering drawings
• Strong fabrication, assembly, and metalworking skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety practices
• Reliable, motivated, and committed to producing quality work
• Physically fit and capable of performing fabrication duties
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test if required
