• Build cable joints and terminations on LV and HV circuits
• Run, test and commission underground distribution cable
• Deal with PILC, XLPE and other cable systems used in distribution, from joints to terminations
• Put distribution pillars, kiosks, RMUs and transformers in place and connect them up, and deal with fault finding, repair jobs and urgent restoration
• Work alongside the team on projects converting overhead networks to underground
• Take responsibility for cable testing and network commissioning
• Carry out work on live networks and on de-energised ones without compromising safety
• Keep workmanship, safety and compliance standards high

• Qualification: New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Supply (Cable Jointer) Level 4, or another recognised qualification that is equivalent
• A current practising licence and NZ electrical registration (EWRB)
• Hands-on, proven experience of electrical distribution cable jointing, along with underground network construction
• Sound knowledge of electrical distribution safety procedures and industry regulations
• Class 1 NZ driver licence, current (Class 2 preferred)
• Overseas applicants must hold a cable jointer qualification that is recognised and equivalent to NZ standards, and have at least two years' experience as a qualified electrical distribution cable jointer.
