Boat Builder/Engineer/Alloy Fabricator

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Welder and Boat Builder to join a leading engineering and marine manufacturing team in New Zealand. The role involves aluminium fabrication, welding, boat building and working from engineering drawings to produce high-quality marine products. You will work closely with a skilled team, contribute to efficient production and maintain high standards of workmanship, safety and quality.

• Interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings
• Perform welding on aluminium and various other metals using appropriate welding processes, particularly MIG welding
• Carry out aluminium fabrication and boat-building tasks to required specifications
• Operate fabrication machinery including saws, shearing machines, cranes and benders
• Safely use engineering hand and power tools including drills, grinders, squares and levels
• Measure, cut, fit and assemble fabricated components accurately
• Maintain high standards of welding quality, workmanship and finishing
• Follow occupational health and safety requirements and maintain a clean, organised work area
• Work collaboratively with management and other team members to support production and company development
• Complete relevant job documentation including time cards, material requests and production records
• Identify and report material, equipment or production issues when required
• Follow established workplace procedures and quality standards

• Proven experience as a Welder, Fabricator or Boat Builder
• Practical experience welding various metals, particularly aluminium
• Strong MIG welding skills and experience
• Experience working with aluminium fabrication and marine or boat-building projects is highly regarded
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Knowledge of engineering fabrication machinery including saws, shearing machines, cranes and benders
• Competent in using engineering hand and power tools including drills, grinders, squares and levels
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Ability to work accurately, efficiently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to complete basic job-related paperwork and production records
• Willingness to work in Southland, New Zealand
