The Opportunity

A well-established painting and decorating business in the Southland region is seeking a qualified Trade Painter to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional looking for stable, year-round work across a variety of residential, commercial, and maintenance painting projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out residential painting and decorating projects
  • Complete commercial painting and maintenance work
  • Prepare surfaces including cleaning, sanding, filling, and priming
  • Apply paints, coatings, and finishes to a high professional standard
  • Maintain excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Operate painting equipment and tools safely and efficiently
  • Ensure projects are completed within agreed timeframes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Communicate effectively with clients, supervisors, and team members
  • Work independently on assigned tasks and projects
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve project objectives
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures at all times
  • Assist with project planning and material management as required
  • Represent the business professionally on customer sites

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Recognised trade qualification in Painting and Decorating
  • Previous experience in residential and commercial painting
  • Full New Zealand Driver Licence or overseas equivalent
  • High standard of workmanship and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Reliable, professional, and motivated work ethic
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Physically fit and capable of performing painting duties
  • Ability to meet standard employment and workplace requirements
