The Opportunity

This Melbourne kitchen is hiring a Chef de Partie, with Senior Chef de Partie applicants also in scope, and from a recruiter's point of view the brief is clear. The employer, an established and growing Italian restaurant group, wants a cook who can run the pans (pasta) or larder section solo at its long-standing original pasta bar, and who has a real feel for Italian food and culture.

Fresh pasta is made on site every day in a brand new kitchen, with produce from artisan Italian suppliers and local farms. Visa sponsorship is available for the right candidate. Hours are casual at first, up to 40 a week on a regular roster, with full-time contracts assessed after a trial of at least four weeks.

To stand out, mirror the listed duties: show where you have held a section alone, how you approach mise en place and how you keep food safety tight when it gets hectic.

Put cookery qualifications, the kitchens and stations you have worked and any pasta experience near the top, then tailor a pans-or-larder CV to this kitchen with Build AI CV.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the pans or larder section through service, working on your own
  • Get pre-service prep and mise en place done
  • Take responsibility for the dishes you send and their quality
  • Work hand in hand with the Sous Chef through prep and service, keeping the kitchen clean, hygienic and food-safe
  • Help shape a positive, driven team and keep learning on the job

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Relevant qualifications
  • Solid training in the industry
  • Experience running a section in busy service
  • Independent and organised
  • Strong communication skills
  • Genuine interest in Italian culture and cuisine, plus curiosity about where good produce comes from
