CNC Operator /Craftsman

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced CNC Joiner / Cabinetmaker to join a progressive cabinetry and furniture manufacturing team in Wellington.

The role is suited to someone who takes genuine pride in their workmanship, enjoys working with modern CNC technology and is motivated to continuously improve their skills and performance.

You will work across CNC machining, cabinet assembly, finishing, quality control and installation support while contributing to a workplace focused on Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.

• Operate HOMAG CNC machinery
• Carry out CNC machining and cabinet component production
• Assemble and finish plywood cabinetry, kitchens and furniture
• Complete quality checks throughout the production process
• Identify issues and assist with practical problem-solving
• Maintain an organised and efficient workshop environment
• Follow 3S and Lean manufacturing principles
• Support installation and on-site requirements when required
• Contribute ideas to improve production methods and workflow
• Maintain high standards of workmanship and attention to detail
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and complete work to a high standard
• Learn and develop skills across CNC, joinery and cabinetry processes
• Participate in required Lean training and workplace development

• Previous experience in joinery, cabinetmaking, CNC machining or furniture manufacturing
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently
• Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn
• Good problem-solving and practical thinking skills
• Ability to take ownership and responsibility for work
• A continuous-improvement mindset
• CNC, WoodWOP, IMOS or HOMAG experience is advantageous but not essential
• Overseas experience is accepted; New Zealand experience is not required
• Valid New Zealand manual driver licence
• Ability to drive a long-wheelbase manual van
• Willingness to complete mandatory Lean reading and training before a trial
• Suitable candidates must demonstrate a genuine interest in developing their trade skills and taking on greater responsibility
