The opportunity
We are recruiting a Financial Accountant in Melbourne for a high-growth digital marketplace business, and the client wants a practical operator rather than a modeller. The position is temporary-to-permanent, meant to steady operations first and then open a defined pathway into a permanent full-time role.
Reading the brief, three things matter most to this client: month-end discipline, balance sheet integrity and statutory compliance for a multi-entity group. You would report to the Financial Controller, keep in daily step with the CFO, review the core ledgers behind an assistant accountant's transactional work and support baseline cash and budgeting. The setting is lean and open, with little bureaucracy and direct access to senior leadership.
Eligible Working Holiday visa holders already in Australia with proven accounting capability can receive full visa sponsorship.
Recruiters shortlisting for this role will scan for proof of ledger ownership. Lead your English CV with the Xero closes you have run, the intercompany eliminations you have handled and any automation you have added to reconciliations. Turn your ledger experience into a shortlist-ready CV with Build AI CV.
Key responsibilities
- Complete month-end and period-end close in Xero for multiple operating entities
- Prepare journals, balance sheet reconciliations and consolidated trial balances

- Produce ad-hoc schedules and documentation for executive leadership on group structuring and entity setups
Requirements and eligibility
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or Commerce together with CA/CPA status (or an equivalent international qualification like ACA, ACCA or CIMA, completed or in progress)
- Demonstrated hands-on financial accounting experience, owning month-end ledgers and statutory compliance in Australia or a comparable jurisdiction
- If you hold a Working Holiday Visa (subclass 417 or 462) with full Australian work rights, you are strongly encouraged to apply
