The opportunity

From a recruiter's point of view, this Perth vacancy suits a tradesperson who is as comfortable at the welding bench as underneath a trailer. A busy, well-established trailer workshop wants a full-time Heavy Vehicle Body Builder / Trailer Mechanic to handle fabrication, structural repairs and bodywork on all sorts of trailer makes and models, along with inspection, servicing, diagnosis and repairs.

What will the hiring team look for? Clear proof that you have worked on heavy vehicles and trailers, confident welding and fabrication across steel and aluminium, and the mechanical fault-finding to sort out brakes, suspension and running gear. Naming the running-gear brands you know, such as BPW or Hendrickson, helps your application stand out, and so does showing you can read technical drawings.

Overseas candidates who are suitably qualified may be considered for 482 visa sponsorship, subject to the relevant visa and occupation requirements.
