Maintenance Foreperson

We are seeking an experienced Roading Maintenance Supervisor to join a well-established civil infrastructure operation in Marlborough, New Zealand. This is a hands-on leadership position suited to a practical roading professional who can coordinate a small crew, manage maintenance priorities and make confident decisions in a changing environment.

• Lead and coordinate a small road maintenance crew
• Plan, prioritise and monitor routine and reactive road maintenance
• Inspect road networks and identify defects, hazards and maintenance requirements
• Assess risks and coordinate appropriate corrective action
• Record defects and maintenance information using GPS and tablet-based systems
• Coordinate responses to incidents, emergency works and unexpected road hazards
• Monitor crew and contractor performance
• Ensure health, safety and traffic management requirements are consistently followed
• Communicate effectively with clients, contractors and internal teams
• Coordinate maintenance activities to ensure roads remain safe and operational
• Participate in an on-call roster, including night-time incidents and emergency call-outs
• Provide practical leadership and support to the maintenance team

• Solid experience in roading maintenance or civil construction
• Previous roading foreman, supervisor or crew leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of roading materials, maintenance and repair methods
• Ability to lead and coordinate a small team effectively
• Strong communication, organisation and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities
• Confident using tablets, GPS systems and basic computer applications
• Experience with AWM or RAMM systems is highly advantageous
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety and traffic management
• Ability to remain calm and practical when working under pressure
• Class 2 New Zealand driver's licence or equivalent
