Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a fast-growing international logistics company based in the Auckland Region, New Zealand. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong accounting knowledge who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, supporting business performance, and maintaining compliance across a range of accounting functions. Experience within the logistics or freight forwarding industry will be highly regarded. Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) sponsorship is available for suitable overseas candidates.

• Manage accounts receivable and monitor customer payments
• Verify billing accuracy against contracts and shipment costs
• Reconcile accounts receivable with the general ledger
• Process supplier invoices and accounts payable transactions
• Validate invoices against shipment records and allocated costs
• Schedule and process supplier payments, including multi-currency transactions
• Maintain supplier records and resolve payment discrepancies
• Allocate costs and revenue to individual shipment or job files
• Monitor shipment profitability and gross profit margins
• Investigate and resolve cost variances
• Provide financial analysis to support operational performance
• Perform bank reconciliations and cash management activities
• Process foreign currency transactions and exchange rate adjustments
• Maintain the fixed asset register
• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting
• Prepare profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow reports
• Support management reporting and financial analysis
• Monitor financial data across international business operations
• Assist with GST, tax compliance and audit preparation
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
• Collaborate with internal teams to improve financial processes

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
• Minimum three years of accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in the logistics or freight forwarding industry is advantageous
• Experience using CargoWise or similar ERP systems is highly desirable
• Experience with multi-currency accounting is an advantage
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
