Butchery Assistant Manager

An exciting opportunity is available in New Zealand for an experienced Butcher or Butchery Assistant Manager ready to take the next step in their career. This full-time permanent position offers the opportunity to take on greater responsibility while supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy butchery department.

You will play an important role in maintaining high standards of meat preparation, product presentation, food safety, stock management, and customer service while supporting the Butchery Manager and wider team.

• Assist with the daily operation of the butchery department
• Support staff training, supervision, and rostering
• Assist with meat preparation, carcass breakdown, cutting, and packing
• Maintain high standards of product quality and presentation
• Ensure food safety, hygiene, workplace safety, and wellbeing standards are maintained
• Manage stock rotation and assist with ordering
• Help minimise product wastage
• Deliver professional and friendly customer service
• Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient work environment
• Support the Butchery Manager with daily operational requirements

• Proven experience working as a Butcher
• Strong knife skills and sound knowledge of meat cuts and preparation
• Experience with carcass breakdown and meat processing
• Leadership or supervisory experience is highly regarded
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to food safety and workplace safety
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively within a team
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
• Willingness to work Tuesday to Saturday
