Agricultural Machinery Operators

An excellent opportunity is available for experienced Agricultural Machinery Operators to join a leading agricultural contracting business in the Waikato region of New Zealand for the 2026/2027 seasonal harvest. Multiple full-time, fixed-term positions are available across a variety of machinery operations.

Successful candidates will operate modern agricultural equipment across cultivation, planting, harvesting, mowing, baling, silage, and forage operations. This is a hands-on role suited to experienced machinery operators who enjoy working outdoors, maintaining high safety standards, and contributing to a professional contracting team during peak seasonal periods.

Competitive hourly rates of NZD $28–$35 are offered depending on skills and experience, with a minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week and the opportunity to work additional hours during the busy season.

• Operate agricultural machinery including tractors, balers, mowers, rakes, drills, trailers, trucks, and other mobile plant
• Carry out cultivation, planting, harvesting, mowing, baling, and forage operations
• Attach, adjust, and operate agricultural implements for specific field tasks
• Monitor machinery performance and make operational adjustments to maximise productivity
• Perform daily pre-start inspections, routine servicing, and minor maintenance
• Identify and report mechanical faults requiring major repairs
• Transport machinery, equipment, and materials safely between work sites
• Maintain accurate records of work completed, operating hours, and job activities
• Follow workplace health and safety procedures and safe operating practices
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of the operations team
• Maintain a professional approach during extended seasonal work periods

• Minimum three years of experience operating agricultural machinery or heavy mobile equipment
• Demonstrated ability to operate tractors and a range of agricultural machinery safely and efficiently
• Good mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform routine servicing and basic maintenance
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements
• Reliable with excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and under pressure during peak seasonal periods
• Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Full and clean driver's licence
• Class 4 or Class 5 licence is advantageous
• Willingness to work flexible and extended hours during the harvest season
