Bitumen Sprayer & Surfacing Equipment Mechanic

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Bitumen & Surfacing Equipment Mechanic Specialist to join a well-established infrastructure and maintenance organisation in the Auckland Region. This specialist position is suited to a trade-qualified mechanic with proven experience working on bitumen sprayers, bitumen trailers, emulsion equipment, and associated surfacing machinery.

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and servicing specialised road surfacing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. • Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on bitumen sprayers
• Diagnose and repair faults on bitumen trailers and associated equipment
• Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs on emulsion equipment
• Complete E2 repairs and fault-finding activities
• Repair and maintain burners and heating systems used in surfacing equipment
• Carry out wing repairs and maintenance on specialised machinery
• Perform hydraulic and mechanical repairs on surfacing equipment
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and emergency repair requirements
• Complete workshop-based and field service work as required
• Diagnose mechanical faults and implement effective repair solutions
• Maintain accurate service records and documentation
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety and compliance requirements
• Contribute to equipment reliability, operational performance, and continuous improvement initiatives

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, or equivalent recognised mechanical trade
• Proven experience repairing and maintaining bitumen sprayers
• Demonstrated experience with bitumen trailer repairs and servicing
• Strong working knowledge of emulsion equipment and associated systems
• Hands-on experience performing E2 repairs
• Experience repairing and maintaining burners used in surfacing equipment
• Experience completing wing repairs on specialised machinery
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and diagnostic fault-finding abilities
• Ability to work independently and manage specialised repair tasks with minimal supervision
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety
• High attention to detail and quality workmanship
• Good communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively in both workshop and field environments
• Candidates with direct experience in bitumen and surfacing equipment will be highly regarded
