The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for a Construction Labourer to join a growing construction and labour team in New Zealand. This role is ideal for candidates with hands-on construction experience who are looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career pathway. Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, transport, and organise construction materials, tools, and equipment
  • Prepare and maintain clean and safe work areas before, during, and after construction activities
  • Assist qualified tradespeople with general construction tasks including bricklaying, concreting, carpentry, roofing, flooring, plastering, painting, glazing, plumbing, drainage, and pipe installation
  • Perform basic excavation tasks including digging trenches, holes, and foundations using hand tools
  • Spread and level soil, gravel, sand, and other construction materials as required
  • Assist with mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete, mortar, plaster, and other construction materials
  • Support installation and assembly of pipes, valves, fittings, drainage systems, and other construction components
  • Assist with maintenance of stormwater, drainage, and sewer systems including cleaning and removing debris
  • Inspect and clean drains, channels, and work areas while reporting issues to supervisors
  • Assist with erecting and dismantling temporary site structures including barriers, fencing, and scaffolding components
  • Measure, cut, bend, tie, and secure reinforcing materials including steel bars, mesh, and concrete products
  • Assist with installation of heating, cooling, and ventilation air pathways
  • Operate basic hand and power tools safely according to workplace procedures
  • Remove construction waste, rubble, and surplus materials from worksites
  • Follow all workplace health and safety requirements, including correct use of PPE
  • Complete other general labouring tasks as directed by supervisors

Requirements & Eligibility

  • Minimum 12 months of construction industry experience
  • Ability to perform physically demanding manual work in outdoor environments
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety practices
  • Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed work attitude
  • Willingness to learn and develop within the construction industry
